tidy now, and I wish it wasn’t.’

God, how that made
me think of you
who danced your careless
way through my heart
and other crazy parks
where all the flowers
were forever crimson
as the kiss of now and the grass
green as Christ’s last dream.
I discount the hours
and the weeks,
aware the months
are conspiring with years
to fill this house
of my final days
with spectres without
the ghost of a chance
of not knowing
how to dance.
