Edward Storey
Evening Light
Edward Hopper would have caught
this moment accurately -
two people in a room
now separated by a continent.
Outside, the evening light
gives trees some certainty
before their shadows merge
with those that night makes permanent.
And silently the man and woman fade
into their wordless dark,
hoping that love will survive -
a miracle, a work of art.
