every man to his junk shop
says EP
my own was in Cecil Court
the antique shop
on the right
coming down Charing Cross
Road
a deep recess a window
always very
poorly lit
babylonic dust accumulating
over sarcophagi
daggers Roman vases
helmets fragments of papyrus
and suspended from a hook
gilt frames longing to hug
ancestors and still lives
St Martin´s Lane
runs over the other side
on and further down a bit
and there it is
the river
Hungerford Bridge
Waterloo Bridge
and the Thames curling a bend
towards and beyond St Paul´s
from there
I made my way back
the Embankment
with its military concerts in the rain
gathered old ladies
holding their crooked umbrellas
startled
when the cannons boomed
and the river
moving on
I walked all over London
every time I had the chance
I returned to Cecil Court
