Angel In The Rain
Warmly by the window,
Nicole likes the soft drum-beat
of the rain almost on her cheek.
She likes to open up her eyes
and imagine that the puddles are the oceans
on planets, far away.
She likes to lose her tears alone,
pretend they are the rain
washing rapidly down the street.
She wants to be outside,
cast among the rain,
she wants to be alone, together with her pain.
Silently upon the sheets,
Nicole wants to go to sleep,
to lose her tears alone.
Watching the clock for hours,
she waits ’till she does not know
what time is anymore,
she lets the rain read to her,
a story softly told
until simple silence comes.
Does she dream in black and white?
Of love and loss of pain?
Nicole is dreaming of the rain again.
Beautifully out in the rain,
Nicole dances out the pain,
she laughs and cries and wonders,
and tosses me a smile.
Just watching water fall
gladly down onto her breasts,
it glitters on her wings and legs,
covers her like snow in summer,
walks with her alone.
At last a tragic triumph comes,
an angel free and alone with the rain,
Nicole smiles down to me.
