Poem
Must we always wait?
Is cancer a way
of seeing into the future?
Wait? put off the day
you break and fall apart.
Cancer, false adolescence,
edifice of death:
let the wind hurl down
the last tiles on the worm-eaten beam!The day the storm batters him
the storm-wind cures him.
The fire which bit his kidneys and his liver
cures him. One must die cured.I shall be cleansed if
I burst like an old gourd in the wind.
And any new task, perhaps,
needs objects properly cleansed?
