It Was Something Else
Monday
an adder on the path.
Snakes should die!
Tuesday:
an adder on the path
the path bled with them!
You got a pick-axe
hacked and jabbed
and chucked the bits
in the juniper thicket.
So it went on
all summer.
It didn’t want to die.
It was something else
that crept across the road
and went swimming in your lake.
