Editorial
Madonna does it every few years and even the Conservative Party’s been having a go recently; everyone needs to reinvent themselves occasionally.
That’s what we’ve been doing over the last few months and that’s the reason why this issue is out slightly later than we were hoping it would be.
The new, improved Brittle Star is different in two ways. One is that Martin has made a range of improvements to the look and feel of the magazine both in terms of the layout and the fact that unlike the England football team, we now have a spine.
The other change is that we have some exciting new regular features. One of these is ‘Star Questions’, where we profile the people who devote hours of their time, energy and (sometimes) madness to keeping the literary world spinning round. Our literary superhero for this issue is Poetry PF’s Anne Stewart. Let us know if you’ve got any ideas for people who could be profiled in future issues.
Another new feature is the Noticeboard. This is a space we’re going to use to promote interesting and unusual literary events, publications and other things that the editors or our subscribers are
involved with and want to tell other people about. Obviously, we only come out three times a year and the Noticeboard is only one page so it isn’t intended to be a comprehensive literature listing for the UK but we hope you find it useful.
We hope you like the revamped Brittle Star but it’s also worth reminding ourselves of what hasn’t changed. That’s our commitment to publishing new writing from new writers. There’s lots of great poems and stories in this issue. We hope you enjoy it.
