Spring the Imposter
Spring the impostor immortal
knave with silky fingers
riding again through the grey
frozen village whistling
the tune to beguile peasants:
how the drowsy notions
from unaired cottages
hurry down to the laughing pavements
to look amazed at the colourful guest
and how the flattering folds
of his warm coat of winds
slide through the desiring
bony hands.
Whispers with velvety
voice into their spin-webbed
ears: they believe
they hear the blossoming of dead branches.
Dazzled by his silverblue
youthful hair
tipsy from its fragrance
they stumble across the field
and follow the shimmering magician
into a reflected joy.
