Wardrobe
A burglar broke into my wardrobe and
grabbed all my clothes.
He even peeled off the pyjamas I was wearing.
I climbed under the duvet
but he snatched it
and set fire to it.
Having seen it was burnt,
he escaped by the window
with a bag full of clothes.
I was left naked
but I had to sleep.
The heater switched off.
I shivered and my body hair trembled,
standing like reeds.
I had never known I smelled like soil.
Ferns in a pot stretched their leaves
and touched me
like fingers on a keyboard.
They sprinkled their spores.
