Leaving Las London
Leaving Las London leaves a taste in the mouth,
bittersweet envy for what was gained but so easily lost,
the fields of hard faces and long lost graces,
and arches crack like brows running rivers of grey.
Leaving fat London gives a bounce to any belly,
the chipping of stagnant lard from bank accounts and H.P. tellies,
the scratching off of sheet-white vein wrecked skin
to find anything within
and the emptying of arteries clogged with too many late nights
and too much sin.
Leaving Las London leaves a trilogy of books,
‘Came/wept’
‘Bought the dream’
‘Didn’t conquer and left’
and the skies keep burning burnt orange day and night,
but tonight the blue the stars and you
everything that is
leaving Las London.
