Look, a man is flying and
Look, a man is flying and
doesn’t know where or why.
He remembers his past life,
glorifies it, curses it, and
watery tears gush from his eyes.
Seductions of this world,
like moments, run in sequence:
naked apples of summer
glistening red currants
basins of rain water.
At dawn, a threesome splits up:
flesh, soul, and restless spirit.
Needles of tender larch trees rake
the thickening air like a comb.
The last rooster sets the tune.
Louder than the instant before the walls collapse,
a white willow thrashes above the ravine.
In the filthy pit of Gehenna
our death burns to ash,
and whirls like a fiery squirrel.
Fine dust irritates the eyelids,
and your suitcase, human sinner,
is spotted by celestial whitewash.
You returned with all your old mistakes,
your previous pain and new misfortunes,
and clouds are heaped
in the blue sky above the white water.
