Hippocampus
Through this the stone winter I shape my world,
Uncurling hippocampus drifting lucky
Between the spring tides of your life.
Twining my tail through the tie that binds and floating,
aquatic acrobat spiralling as arms and legs bud
and ears form to hear your heart beat.
I wallow safe, I grow, you stretch, I am now complete,
your depths now shallow. Then your cells remember
and in feeling the chill water my memory calls
and I am born in a gush as a ripe tomato drops from a vine.
