Approaching Gothenburg Harbour
(from Translations Into English)
It is a big big big big big big BIG ferry,
Carl Carl Carl come quick come look Carl look
at the big ferry and the cranes the cranes
and tall ship ship all those masts and Carl
the stone dock;
with granite cobbles:
and Carl :-
it is home .

So after an exile of five years, they travelled back - five years in a suit and clean shoes in a bright fluorescent post in administration advising the division of Corporate Affairs on things to do with futures; five years in which Carl worked diligently for the "head office" till he was, as they say, restructured, back to a small drift mine in Norway. It was, in the mind of accountants in the tall bronze-shaded curtain-sided thirty-storey tower, a demotion; they could not imagine the humiliation of having to work in a drift mine in Norway; with pine trees, and cloud berries and a still still lake.
