She was so serene, her skin as smooth as an LP sleeve,
so when the students' party wound down and she made to leave
he saw her to the door. It was near dawn. They stood a sec,
he longing to touch and trace her Modigliani neck
when suddenly she turned and kissed him, languorous and soft.
Muted music soundtrack came from a back room. Someone coughed.
A motorbike tore down the road, its rip dying, then gone,
while in the star-fade dawn their doorstep kiss held on and on.
It was a movie moment, scene from a film with no name,
just a brief encounter where no one left and no one came,
her lips' full ripeness, mmmmm, an all-time classic in the can,
a clip he'd rerun down the years.
Oh, play it again, man.
