After leaving Oxford I married Hugo
before his secondment to Cooper’s in Tokyo.
In Jakarta and Ankara I worked as a spook
while Hugo traded scandalous shares and me, stories.
Hugo’s gender reassignation surgery coincided with
public revelations about my liaison with a lesbian aide to the PM
at a cocktail party.
Thankfully, the offshore account allowed a
retreat from public life to our organic farmhouse
from which we re-emerged as bee keepers.
Our two beautiful daughters, Hermione and Bob,
are exceptionally gifted.
I would love to hear from anyone
who remembers me as Julie Baxter.
