As Kids we Played on the Moon
School’s moonmass statistics
were meaningless engines of figure
pulling six comma coupled
carriages of three noughts each,
but we knew it was vast
and barren for mile after ashen
mile as we rode our bikes
along monster caterpillar tracks.
Base was in a crater
where we sucked flying saucers
and stoppered ourselves with
jaw breaking planets as
we searched for buried constellation
clusters and found comet bones instead,
then suddenly one day
men landed -
with flags and instruments
and it’s all been built upon now.
