The Weight of the Day
the weight of the day
slides like a sleeve
soiled or perhaps
not, from your shoulders
simply rubbed against the skin
the shoulders
a bit more bent
from having carried
light’s shadow for a while
you enter the night naked
memories run aground
on a bank
between two currents
the stars float upside down
you don’t know if
you’ll wake up or where
when the owl’s eyes
close, the watch kept
and the rat eaten
