Homecoming
In white shirt sleeves he dances in,
takes my blue tea-towel,
whips air, flows, spins, spine in a double
helix, sinks, sings, mock-reels, our stir
fry in a big hot wok chuckles,
kids, amazed at the ancient audacity,
yell to turn it down, we salsa,
his work-head left in a green bike helmet
on a stunned kitchen step, raspberries relax
in the sieve, the kiss, ice cold cider
in his mouth, now napkins fly higher,
paper doves around this dining room.
I think I was supposed to say:
Hello dear, how was your day?
