Now I Lay Me
When I come back
for a second time
I know exactly
where the light switch is
and now
I can find the door key
and my glasses
in the dark
by my bed.
The sounds outside
are exactly
like last night’s
and someone is busying
in the early hours
like they did yesterday.
Tomorrow
it may begin to be
somewhere else
but for this night
here is home.
