Hunter's Dirge
Last week he wrote
‘I feel like dying.’
Diamonds glittering in the grass.
‘Sometimes
I find it difficult to love women
They’re greedy. Take everything from me.’
A violet puddle in the pathway reflects
‘Even deprive me of my daughter.
There is no point in going on.’
A dandelion clock sways over the path
Seeds sparkle and drift
‘Like a piece of flotsam
Washed up on the shore, I think of G.
Have not the courage to do what...’
Raindrops hang on bare branches
Tremble in the dazzling light
‘I’m so alone. Write to me.’
Implores he who once sat
Triumphant on mother’s knee.
A blackbird scattering diamond droplets
Sings
Dear Hunter, you’ve got it wrong
It’s harder to stay with me.
