A Portrait of Dorothy N.
Something has pushed her into permanent question. She is a
diverse community, holds out her hands to you but has never
been properly introduced. Turning off all the lights, she lets us
assume no-one is home; we must not let her get away with it.
Emotion and technique co-operate, confess to expertise.
Perceiving words, she renders them valuable: everything becomes
a gift, free for all; a theatre of memory and direct experience,
dialogue and silent response.

A Portrait of Scott T.
He leaves us to listen, is so dazzling in himself the target
disappears. Differences may not matter very much, he reasons;
a whole series of themes begin to fit together. He keeps at his
work regardless of attention, sees the social stuff is more serious
than sweets and sneakers, acts as though nothing has happened.
Filling the fruitbowl, he moves away from risk, is now an
extended photo session. He would be a man exploring
connections, transforming a dark universe to smiling synthetic
bliss.
