Safety Ideas for a Persecuted Girl From Gisele Prassinos
Close tight
your windows at night,
the butterflies are howling.
Bobcats miaowing
nightclaws
down damp glass
would let them in,
but you are safe;
their claws are not diamonds.
Take off your clothes
lest night-cousin lepidoptera
are ravenous for cloth.
Best they should flutter
the scurf of their wings
over your body
than dine on your negligé.
Tomorrow is ‘Valentine’s Day
and you will breakfast
on the nectar of flowers.
