When the winter comes
When the winter comes
set me free from the chains of love
that twisted my heart like a hurricane.
Set me free
from your immortal love that throws my heart in fire,
set me free…
I've hated the humiliation and the waiting.
When the winter comes
and its winds move my curtains like tree leaves
don't treat me like a baby when you talk to me.
I grew up my lady …
I grew up…
I grew up and my feelings grew with me
and I'm capable of choosing now.
Let me be free from your world …
let me make my own decisions.
When the winter comes
and the birds are searching for a new home
and my soul becomes homeless
and when no one asks what's wrong
when the sky changes
let's end that fake argument
and break the chains you put around my feelings.
Bring back the person I used to be,
bring back the beauty in my life.
This is the full version of the poem When the winter comes. A shorter version was published in the March 2005 edition of the Cannon’s Mouth in which we inadvertently spelt the author’s name incorrectly, for which we apologise.– Editor
