Fleur de lune
Perhaps the moon will burst forth on me
with all its millenniums of glory
in the human eye, in the coyote eye -
incandescent longings that shatter
the vision, disappear behind a cloud
to burst forth and grab the underbelly
of the dog-man searching for inspiration
on a tropical night.
Bullfrogs groan and cicadas throb
and the moon stays, watches, attacks.
I want you, shrieks the cow,
I want you, shrieks the moon;
man and moon stare savagely
wishing for all things.
Crash, boom, moon waves thud
on the shores of my mind,
sweep across the eager sands
burning, aching for infinity
and the beyond of reason.
It reappears, winking in the soft belly
of the sky.
You I’ll hold and twist, it says.
You I’ll hold in the grip of infinite
longing, infinite reason, infinite life.
You I’ll hold in the grip of forever.
