Many thanks for Equinox #23. So much to enjoy here, from the cover inwards. And I thought - how does a biannual poetry magazine even hope to sustain the standard set by Anne Stewart’s and Tony Crosier’s two opening poems.
I readily identified with James Aitchinson’s ‘How Poems Begin’, but not so much in the writing of poetry, rather in my subconscious solving of crosswords. Siobhan Daffy’s ‘dreamthoughts’ were a perfect compliment to the essay, with the mood altered by Niall McGrath’s ‘Ménage’. And I simply loved Andrew Mayne’s ‘Love for Camels’.

I love getting Equinox it is unique in its eclectic mixture of poems interspersed with Russi Dordi’s colourful illustrations.

....I must admit to a subliminal influence (Shouting Eye )....May I say how much Ienjoyed James Aitchison’s essay.

‘With much to enjoy, as ever, in Equinox 23, I am delighted to see Russi Dordi in his own space on the CONTENTS page of Equinox 23 with 'Winter Oaks' and 'Le Moulin, Alaigne,' both characteristically appealing.
Ann Drysdale's 'In Praise of Beige' is fascinating..... I am reminded of the question raised in a Q.I. programme: 'What colour is the universe?' Answer: 'Beige' !
I am enjoying re-reading/referring to 'How Poems Begin' by James Aichison: I am intrigued by this poet's perceptions, from being obsessed with something before you can begin to write a poem...and I agree, too, about the process being partly non-conscious...
Thank you, Barbara Dordi, for yet another beautiful journal.
Warmly, Felicity Brookesmith, Broadstairs, Kent
