The Business of Being Ernst
“ Things are divorced from their names.”
– Sartre
A kid’s dumb game, Max,
No metier for manmadness,
No less an artiste for frottage,
No more than your horde of color,
Cardinal motley, violet-bled, pinball-blue,
Eccentric as Europe kibitzed-to-bits,
Philomel mensching everyone,
Á la tombée de la nuit, das gemeine
Your Volk, your Forêt Fleur,
Your seizure oneiric, Zürich gone quaintly
Gaga on Dada, a pâté-prologue of ART
Sprawled across your sawcefleem face,
Your guttural smile hatched
In a bistro beneath a trifle
Cool and delectable
And volupté
On a plate.
