Continuity
Strange how we choose who to love
in the end. Cue fantasies of stars and fate.
(But I mustn’t talk of forces!) For me
it settles, trundling in with loyal adoration,
devotion, desire, deep respect – and a range to
relish of tangles and matches that surface between.
I want you to flower. My heart deepens, beats
with real care. So naturally are you beside me
day by day that I don’t always see you whole,
confront your richness. You’re there. It grows.
Without you the hole would be endless; I’d crane
to see you fully, grown soul, face to face,
to recreate what I took for granted. And the world
will continue, evolving through darkness in magic
to something unimaginable we helped create.
