Falling Into Line
The Apparition
I was sitting, tea in hand, in a field
It stared through the glass, next to me
Its expression: "Open the window I wish to speak with you."
I slid the window forward,
Might have felt its breath
It was probably the wind.
"Hello."
I didn't see its lips move
Nor did its eyes change expression.
"You're trying to reconcile yourself to love."
It turned to face the Bristol Channel,
Houses and roads, unseeable fields and woods.
"I'm - trying - to" (this was beyond belief)
"You don't have to."
It was fading.
"You don't have to."
