Three Esoteric Weekends
Sitting by the side of Camden lock,
minding my own business
and therefore bored beyond belief,
I met a northern goddess.
She carved runic symbols in my back
with her nails and stained them with my blood
while we performed the ritual,
both chanting together. A week later,
I met a man in the markets
who offered me a bag of something,
so I went back to his place
and took some of all the different nothings
that he had on offer. Transmuted,
and therefore bored beyond belief,
I spent days in multi-coloured alchemy
and became in turn lion, sun and planets.
Drinking a quiet Saturday pint,
I was enchanted by a white witch.
In clouds of herbal smoke, she burned
at my stake while I poured on the pitch.
Surely no-one could blame me
for watching the clock and waiting
for the weekend when I’m here
and therefore bored beyond belief.
