It’s only cardboard
but somehow
never the right
size and it’s hard
to get the corners
sharp when you score
the edges for
cutting down.
Then it won’t
lie straight; and
the edges overlap.
You can’t see,
but it’s cosy, here
with the sides so close,
raising the fine hairs
on the back of
my hand. Paper
caress stroking
my neck, tucking
my knees all the way
up to my chin.
My breathing
creeps round
to the soles
of my feet.
