I Begin to Know Where the Edges Are
A cell or unit-mass
(I like the sound
protozoan)
spreads out
splits
hardens new edges
becoming whole from halves
Small but independent
procreating by division
Not like meeting someone
and peeling off
layer then layer
to fuse, naked and athletic
The fire from fission
The laundry from fusion
I might have liked the splitting thing
there is too much of me
Not just fat and clothes
but problems in the head
pains in the mind but
I begin to know where the edges are
