Leaving
Let us walk the shore,
it is quiet this time of year
an occasional dog walker
and we two
talking trivia.
The sand blows in waves
mirroring the sea,
reaching the bar mouth
we return towards town,
a silence between us
like the empty strand.
The station lights are on,
rain falls,
the streets are vacant,
I think of you
travelling through the wet countryside.
