The Thin Places by Judi Benson
ISBN 1 90485110 X
Judi Benson's new collection ranges far and wide, taking in Berlin, Trieste, Hungary, the Balkans and the intimacy of a London bookshop along the way. Her work is, for the most part, quietly reflective rather than in-your-face, and her extended elegy for her late partner, Ken Smith, ('Ghost Notes') is both moving and immensely accomplished:
'And who in the end,/do I tell it all to,/if not you.' The lack of final question mark says it all.
