What This Poem Will Not Do
end here. This is death but not ending. Make it easy. Few repetitions and right turnings, therefore, but along the road the small bodies of the crushed the bloodied the muddled and feathered
my skin - look - the skin across the back of my hand is soft and wrinkled.
It is gentle. I have worn it a long time, put my fingers to flex in it each morning, stretched, yawned, reached for the keys. My eyes are green
with
glints of hazel. They have seen life and death and forgotten both.
Baby, I know what I say but do you
think you are cool think you can drive this poem take it in one swerve?
Did
you bring your whole self to the enterprise? I think not. I can wind you
in
shred by red shred until you are skinned. On every road sadness dazzles.
Turn left. Left. You are blind. I have killed. Come with me: we shall
travel together through carnage and alas
you have missed much already. And I have missed only what will not
