Sylvia Owens, Loughborough. Visual artist. Has won many prizes. Recently completed a commission for the Japanese royal family.

Ronald Millin-White, (‘Chalky’) Shropshire (born Highgate, 1924). Painter, ceramicist, poet. He spent his working life as an art teacher in London, and retired to Shropshire in 1982 where he continued to paint and write poems. He died on 5th October 1998.

Catie Gill, Loughborough. Writer, critic, performer. This piece was developed from the play Welcome to the Bloody Kitchen by herself and the Womenspace theatre group.
Martin Booth, England, is a novelist and non-fiction writer. His latest novel, The Industry of Souls, was short-listed for the 1998 Booker Prize. He divides his time between England and the Far East.
