Just A Shade
Just a shade darker, this water,
Than the colour of her eyes.
Just a shade more silent, this darkness,
Than the silence in her soul.
Just a shade more peaceful, this hillside
Than the whisperings at twilight
After her words are gone.
Just a shade colder, this night,
Than the cool of her caress.
Just a shade more rhythmic, the surf,
Than the beating of her heart.
Just a shade more still, I,
Standing mute on the hillside, than she,
Just a shade, standing mute on the pier.
