Dove who stayed outside beyond the dovecot bounds
returned to circle and shelter at one with day and night
knows what belonging means when some vague apprehension
of alien horror companions the very sensation of flying
The most protected one this other, never in danger
has no experience within her of what it is to cherish
to take the heart, reclaim it most intimate and tender
challenged it is the more free to exult in its prowess
Spanned above nothingness a great immensity arches
and when we throw the disc risk it as far as we can
it lands right back in our hands only on curving round
pure in its own gravity it has increased.
