The Condor Temple, Machu Picchu
She sits wearing her UCLA sweatshirt
legs crossed, the forefinger and thumb
of each hand touching, poised in meditation
eyes focused at infinity
beneath the stone wings of a condor.
She is perfectly aligned between mountains
the path of sun, moon, stars
their tracks across the Earth
known from some other time,
before the heavy, white cloth
of the Catholic church, fell with Inca blood.
