They pass through our homes on the way up
charming posters from the walls.
It is the moon of melting butter,
of that great, ragged, clawed animal the thunderstorm.
Raccoons climb trees all night
shaking down berries across deck boards.
Centipedes enter the sink.
Roses repeat themselves.
It is the moon of restless angels.
