Of wholeness. The mother, a young Semitic
Girl, wears black, her tenderness already
Includes mourning. The child stirs.
The angles
Of the icon
Of the mother
In black
Are those of Pieta.
The child
On her arm
Is wholeness.
He receives our tenderness
Impatiently.
Madonna
Arms clasping.
A young Semitic
Girl, shy, frightened.
The child comforting her.
Swaddled
We can talk of unions -
The Earth as great Mother -
May the darkness of God
Make us stir,
Proclaim the love the child has been to us.
