Hi Pete

   I guess I owe you a lot of explanations. The stack of Sick Fly's you sent for my signature arrived over a month ago & are still sitting on my desk at home along w/a foot hi stack of unopened mail. sorry, The last few months I just couldn't cope. I ran into some opiates & got carried away tried to come off w/alcohol & some heavy acid -
which has worked before but this time I caught some bad acid heavily laced w/strychnine & the combination of smack acid alchohol strychnine & whatever else I dropped while my mind was blown - well, my body finally gave up & my mind followed close behind.

   So here I am in the looney bin again - same old ho-hum shit. Sure, I know enuf about the old unconscious to know I was trying to kill
myself the easy way - without the big bridge leap or the razor blade
- but somehow knowing it didn't help. Anyway, a while back friends shoveled me into this place & I owe them (& myself) a few more
months of what is called "intensive confrontation therapy". I'm almost off the withdrawal drugs now, my hands don't shake so bad & I can
even read again. The shrinks are starting to talk about a trial weekend home visit & if that happens I'll try to sign those books & slow-freight em back to you - try also to retype & ship off the mss I've clipboarded to the wall at home for that possible second book you mentioned. hope you still feel the same way. My spirits are lifting now & I can think poetry again instead of death. Write. It's always good to hear from friends & so few of them are left around now - love bill.
