Slugs
Thick creamy entrails
of prehistoric reptiles,
veined fallopian tubes
dredged from the innards
of sea creatures,
bubbling with life,
bleeding with life
bursting with brilliant burgeoning life,
dribbling
down
garden
walls
propelled by blots of mucus,
see them slide, see them slide,
see them live.
They are the immigrants
enticed and then repelled.
They are the innocents,
flesh cut with jagged shells,
duped into death by lager in cups.
They will drown in a delirium of death,
choke and seethe in poisonous pools.
These slurps of silver,
glycerine-slick,
must be saved.
