Readers’ Votes 2010
I vote for the poems which strike a chord
In this rugged old bosom of mine.
The haiku from Allison Heatherington-Smythe
On the monks who made coke out of wine …
And the sonnet by Sylvia (isn't she quaint?)
On the allure of illegal drugs…
And the funny short poem by WG
On his hobby -collecting wee bugs.
So third prize to Sally - who wins every month –
For the Ode to a one-legged hen.
And second, to Arthur - who's good for a laugh –
For his take on incontinent men.
But the one who comes top is the cinquain by Alf
Who has hit the nail on the head For
the funniest poem I've ever read
About what he gets up to in bed.
These poems are far superior to
Any ditties which flow from my pen,
So I swear to you - after reading them all
I will never write poetry again.
