Beauty
steps from the bath,
her face light and smooth
as a papier-maché mask.
Dressed skin-tight
in skin, she disposes her limbs
precisely.
The moon arrives on cue
floating above
the scrape and click of bamboo.
Her breasts have bloomed, nipples
like small red flowers,
crushed camellia petals.
Light through the paper window
underscores each
with a strip of puckered shadow.
The one flaw that art
needs for perfection: a bruise
worn like a jewel at her throat.
