T.V. Dream to a T.V. Awakening
The journey of a life time
it begins in a corridor
neither far nor near
- we speed over giant viaducts,
a strange country
all hills and sun
conjured by dividing echoes.
Here in a dingle stands a solitary pine
and the birds dive down
to fish in green water,
while we play at gathering the streams
and making clear pools.
We hardly speak
not even finger tips touch.
We rest content
and eat from wooden bowls.
- But I arrive in a winter landscape
finger tips stiff
the sunlight speeding backwards into the night.
Dragged back. Plugged in by invisible wires
which whine and whisper
as you cut the wheat with the new curved moon
and sing a doleful song to comfort me.
