Double Take
Suddenly he is everywhere –
even in the eyes of the blind man
with his partner at the station
queuing for tickets, their baby
kicking in silence,
in the lips of the pregnant woman
who takes her son to school,
embraces him, then slowly
begins her way back home.
His is the sloping nose of the boy
reading the paper on the train,
his leather jacket open, chin
nestled in white cotton,
that man over there with his brisk walk,
this woman with quick hands,
the angle of a back,
a stare, a glance –
