Sweat and hot saliva rising
All imperfections drawn out and passed between
Endless solitary prisoners fighting their way through
The drably non-committal corridor
Mirror of its neighbour
Alike in their contempt of colour
Grey shining cage bars
Block the road to thought
Body and mind never reach compromise
Never fully together
Bell sounds now
Screams to the pupils
To take what is left of their day and go
Reap the sordid benefits of naivety
Reassures them it won’t last forever.
