Dear Peter, I merely wondered whether you were using the word AEON in its original sense. In most of the systems of Gnosticim,
God doesn't do anything. He emanates AEONS who perform variously. One was called Sophia & fell & became the spirits of this this whole universe. Jesus was another aeon. All this is pretty complicated. There is a marvelous old book, called FRAGMENTS of A FAITH FORGOTTEN which would clue you in on the Gnostic scene. Hans Jonas, an English or American professor has written a more "modern" essay. Gnosticism was condemened as a Christian hersey in the 1st or 2nd century A.D. &c &c &c. "AE" (Initial monogram) was used as a pen-name by an Irish poet whose true name was George Russell. He was about the same age as W.B.Yeats - they were very good friends. I, being a person of Irish Descent, was joking - the first AEON must be George Russell, & the Second AEon would be his son. Mr. Diarmuid Russell
yours,
phil
