Or
When I think of all the joints
I never smoked
or rolled,
or the tutorials
I never sulked in,
or skipped,
or others’ fibs I never dismissed
or told,
or the passes from fine minds
that I ignored,
or all the boys with whom I never slept
or woke,
or interesting summer jobs abroad
I couldn’t afford,
or how lectures and youth are wasted on the young
and broke,
I think of something else.
Julie Lynn has taught English in secondary schools and written for trade journals. Her poetry has been published in Borderlines and The New Writer.
