Bus girls
Enveloped in soporific heat haze
up front on top deck of the humming vehicle
at the cemetery gatehouse stop
the bus is virtually hijacked
by a pack of unruly girls running screaming signalling
running for the stop running into the road waving us down
running aboard & straight up the stairs
swearing & cursing & screaming
5 or 6 of them, mid-late teens
black skirts & white blouses
all cramming into the other front seat
the screaming not stopping
it was conversation of a sort
IM GOIN T’GET FUCKIN PISSIN DRUNK
fuckin bollox this, fuckin bollox that
AS SOON AS I GET OFF THIS FUCKIN PISSIN BUS
a continuous reel of near-hysterical abusive giggling
IM GOIN IN T'THAT BAR & GET
FUCKIN PISSED OUTA M’MIND
bus lurching round the corner nearly
pitched the lot of them in my lap
CANT GO FUCKIN THERE THEY CHUCKED US OUT LAST
FUCKIN WEEK
they obviously didnt give a damn, pardon, a fuck for anything
& screamed away off the bus at the new raw transit station
dispersing like a quick hail shower
into the streets of Aberdare
